Tech Mage (Pty) Ltd, trading as Shop Simply ("we", "us", "our"), is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and the name of your shop.
Billing information
Subscription payments are processed by Paystack. We do not store your card details. Paystack shares transaction records with us for account management purposes.
Shop and order data
We store the products, orders, and customer data that you create through the platform. This data is yours — see Section 5 for your rights.
Usage data
We collect server logs and application telemetry (via Azure Application Insights) to monitor platform health and diagnose issues. This data does not identify individual end customers.
2. How we use your information
- To operate and maintain your shop on the platform
- To process subscription billing via Paystack
- To send transactional emails (account verification, subscription notifications)
- To monitor and improve platform performance
- To comply with legal obligations
3. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Paystack — subscription billing processor
- Microsoft Azure — cloud hosting, email delivery (ACS), and telemetry
4. Data storage and security
All data is stored on Microsoft Azure infrastructure in the South Africa North region. We apply industry-standard security controls including encrypted connections (TLS) and access controls.
5. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Object to the processing of your personal information

6. Data retention
We retain your account and shop data for 30 days after subscription cancellation, after which it is permanently deleted. You will be prompted to download a full data export before cancellation is confirmed.
7. Cookies
We use a single session cookie (ss_session) to keep you logged in to your admin dashboard. No third-party tracking or advertising cookies are used.
8. Changes to this policy
We will notify active subscribers by email before making material changes to this policy.
